Life is best lived with a balance of personal and universal perspective. For being too much identified as an individual means a life of illusion, whereas too far in the other direction can result in apathy and detachment.

Know in your heart that life is only an idea, not what you are. Who and what you really are is the unknowable substance of reality. Life is simply a pattern which forms in this dynamic substance from time to time, and when swirling in this pattern the best thing to do is embrace the fulfillment that comes with humouring its illusions.

Whether physical or psychological, we cannot improve in the absence of challenges, for life has evolved to conserve energy and will not grow without reason or cause. So be grateful for the challenges you face, for they are your opportunities to expand your abilities and self.

“Opportunities to find deeper powers within ourselves come when life seems most challenging.” ~ Joseph Campbell
