Mix it Up

“Be daring. Be different. Be impractical. Be anything that will assert integrity of purpose and imaginative vision against the play-it-safers. The creatures of the commonplace. The slaves of the ordinary.” – Cecil Beaton

“An effective way to overcome the inner commentary is to develop a refined present-moment awareness. You watch every moment so closely that you simply don’t have the time to comment about what has just happened.” – Ajahn Brahm

“And in the naked light I saw
Ten thousand people, maybe more.
People talking without speaking,
People hearing without listening,
People writing songs that voices never share
And no one dared
Disturb the sound of silence.” – Paul Simon

Shadow of What’s Right

“Criticism is something we can avoid easily by saying nothing, doing nothing, and being nothing” – Aristotle

Any opinion is opposed by somebody, which is simply a tactic of nature to ensure members of our species are different enough to each other that the species as a whole can survive the various scenarios nature throws at us. So don’t take it so personally when someone contradicts you, even if they themselves are doing so in an emphatic way.
